"Hands-on" field trip-human patient simulators and willed bodies

"Coby" has died more than 50 times in the past two years. He died one more time for biomedical students from H.S.A. Dallas on May 5th. "Coby" is a human patient simulator at UTSouthwestern Medical Center. He responds to medication, blinks his eyes, raises his chest, and has a pulse. Practicing with "Coby" helped our students not only understand what they learn in BioMedical class, but they also got the opportunity to practice their skills. Our students also visited the Willed Body Lab, and they learned valuable knowledge and techniques by touch and observing real body parts from different donors. This field trip was a great experience!

UT-Southwestern field trip by H.S.A. Dallas Biomedical students

During our field trip to UT-Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Erinn Giddeons introduced her interesting research on antidepressants by using mice models, while Professor Stuart Ravnik conducted a fun experiment with us that involved different chocolates to test each student’s taste buds. Overall, the trip to UT-Southwestern was a joyous and learning experience for the students at Harmony Science Academy of Dallas!
